Custom Mockup Editor

Upload your own product photos, position artwork with pro tools, and generate bulk mockups.

What is the Custom Mockup Editor?

The Custom Mockup Editor (at /editor) is a full-featured workspace where you:

  • Upload your own product photos (mugs, shirts, cards, anything) as background images
  • Upload artwork designs from your library
  • Position and warp the artwork onto the product using Photoshop-equivalent tools
  • Paint a print-area mask to clip artwork precisely (e.g. exclude a cup handle)
  • Generate single or bulk mockups with all your artwork in one click

It's built for production — set up a product once, then drop hundreds of different artworks through the same setup.

The three columns

The Editor is laid out as three columns:

① Your Products (background images)

Upload product photos (mug, shirt, card). Transparent PNGs work best — the app automatically clips artwork to the product silhouette. Click a product card to load it onto the canvas.

② Your Artwork

Upload or select artwork designs. Click a thumbnail to add it to the canvas preview. Cmd+click to remove from selection. Click multiple artworks to batch generate — all of them get the same product setup.

③ Position & Export

The canvas + toolbar. This is where you sculpt the artwork onto the product using warp tools, paint masks, and set export options (background, format, shadows).

Quick workflow — the 30-second version

  1. Upload a product photo (column 1) — transparent PNG recommended
  2. Click the product → it loads onto the canvas
  3. Click an artwork (column 2) → it appears on the product
  4. Click ✨ Auto Mesh if the artwork needs to follow a curve (cups, caps)
  5. Click 💾 Save Position so the setup persists for next time
  6. Click the black Generate Mockup button at the bottom
  7. When done, click Download ZIP

Warp modes

The toolbar has six mode buttons. Pick the one that matches your product shape:

ModeUse forWhat it does
FlatShirts, posters, framesSimple rectangle — no warping
PerspectiveTilted flat surfaces4 draggable corners — drag to match an angle
CurveStraight-on cups, caps, bottlesArc or cylindrical wrap with a curvature slider
Curve+PerspTilted cups, angled bottlesCombines 4 corners and cylindrical wrap in one warp
MeshIrregular shapes, bulged printsPhotoshop-style warp grid (up to 400 draggable points) — see the Mesh Warp guide
MaskClipping artwork to a specific areaPaint brush tool that defines the print area — see the Mask Brush guide

Preview, positioning & visibility

  • Preview opacity slider — dim the artwork so you can see the product underneath. 100% = full artwork, 0% = invisible. Editor-only; doesn't affect the final mockup.
  • Hide Mask — toggles the zone outline off so you can see the artwork clearly.
  • ↔ Flip H / ↕ Flip V — mirror the product image to create an "other side" view (e.g. cup with handle on the opposite side).
  • 👁 Preview button (bottom-right of canvas) — opens a live result preview showing how the final mockup will look, with mask clipping applied. Press Esc to close.
  • ⛶ Maximise — hides the side columns and expands the canvas to full width for detailed work.
  • Use Artwork Ratio — resizes the zone to match your artwork's aspect ratio (no stretching).
  • Full Front / Full Width / Centre — quick position presets.

Export options

At the bottom of the Position & Export column:

  • Background — None (transparent), White, Colour (custom solid), or Gradient
  • Format — PNG (best quality, biggest files), JPG (smaller, no transparency), WEBP (modern small format)
  • Realistic shadows & wrinkles — applies a soft-light blend + auto-displacement so the artwork inherits surface shadows and bumps. On by default.

Save Position — reusable per-product setup

The 💾 Save Position button stores the current mesh / corners / curve / rotation / mask against the selected product.

Next time you open that product, everything loads back automatically. Set up a product once, then drop new artworks in forever.

Tip: This is the single biggest time-saver for production. Do your setup carefully the first time, save it, and every future mockup for that product is a 2-click operation.

Reset & clean-up actions

  • Remove Artwork — clears the artwork from the canvas but keeps the zone / mesh / mask intact. Use when you want to try a different artwork in the same setup.
  • Reset All — wipes everything: product, artwork, mesh, mask, mode. Full restart.
  • Reset (Position modal only) — resets the zone to centre at default size. Keeps product & artwork.
  • Forget Saved (brush panel) — removes the saved mask from the product in the database.
